Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal lets you operate a vessel less than 12 metres for specified purposes in specified waters.
This course includes a theory and practical component, both completed on the same day. Theory and practical locations will be advised 3-4 days out from course start.
Description
Must be at least 16 years old Must be able to speak and understand English, including written documents Must be medically fit for the duties, including eyesight Must be able to complete any needed on-water practical tasks Hold a valid Australian recreational boat licence N.T. students who do not hold an interstate recreational boat licence will be provided all the requirements and application of an SA boat licence at the same course at no additional cost. Arrival time: Arrive at least 15 minutes before start time Course length: Allow up to 8 hours ID requirements: ID required i.e., valid drivers licence Clothing: Appropriate practical boating clothing i.e., enclosed shoes Food & drink: Food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed throughout the course. What does Coxswain Grade 3 NC allow me to do?
- Command and operate the engines of a vessel less than 12 metres long with propulsion power for inboard or outboard engine of up to 500 kW
- That is used only for towing people
- In daylight hours only
- In waters approved as a water ski area by a State or Territory authority.
Please note, Coxswain Grade 3 cannot be used as a recreational boat and PWC licence.
What will I do on the day?
You will complete practical and theory training sessions on the same day. Typically, the practical element is completed early morning (usually starting 8am), with theory completed shortly after completion of the practical. Timing of the theory and practical may vary depending on the number of students and level of experience. A lunch break is provided.
Once you have successfully completed the practical & theory assessment, you will receive a completed declaration which you will need to then lodge with AMSA.
Those completing the recreational boat licence at the same course will also need to submit that paperwork to the relevant government authority.
Who delivers the training?
Training is delivered by Sailingworld (RTO #91229 | ACN: 092 478 718). Training is completed in accordance with government standards.
